Portland Streetcar

Portland Oregon

  • 4 miles North South Line
  • 4.65 miles Central Loop Line
  • 4.1 million Annual Riders

As the first private signatory to the Development Agreement for the Portland Streetcar, Williams & Dame was instrumental in forging a collaborative partnership with the Portland Development Commission, strategically combining both public and private investment to develop the Portland Streetcar, the first new streetcar system built in the United States since 1952.  Originally comprising 2.4 miles of double track (and 1.3 million riders annually), Williams & Dame was influential in further expanding the Portland Streetcar to the South Waterfront District.  Today, the Portland Streetcar now has more than 7 miles of track, expanding service across the Willamette River to Portland’s Central Eastside and beyond, and moves over 4 million riders annually.  It provides a unique and memorable city experience and is an essential component to Portland’s award winning public transportation system.
