OHSU Aerial Tram

Portland Oregon

  • 3,300 ft Height
  • 500 ft Length
  • 3 minutes Travel Time

One of only two commuter aerial trams operated for public transportation in the United States, and the first urban tram built in the U.S. in 50 years, the OHSU aerial tram is a vital link to the main hospital campus for thousands of employees, patients and even tourists.  The journey offers scenic city and river views, while passing over the highly traveled roads below, including Interstate 5.  Williams & Dame navigated the negotiations between the city, OHSU and private landowners to create this new city landmark.  The tram has won several architectural awards including the American Institute of Architects’ Los Angeles chapter’s NEXT Honor Award and the Presidential Award of Excellence from the American Institute of Steel Construction.
